Self Acceptance

1. Today I will accept myself for who I am and where am.

2. I will not run away, today, from where I came from; nor will I lament my past. I will instead try to learn from it and how it contributed to who I am today.

3. God loves me. I will believe this until I come to know it is true. Because God loves me, who am I to reject me?

4. I will empower no one with the right to approve or disapprove of me as I am. It is I who must approve of me. I begin by accepting myself as I am.

5. I will not worry about whom I should be. If I am at the wrong place, God will direct me to where I should be. All I need do is ask for his help.

6. I will not fear change; nor will I try to manufacture it; instead I will let it happen under the guidance and grace of God.

7. I will trust that acceptance and change will come with time. I will not be impatient about either. I will let them happen to me, patiently.

8. I will accept responsibility for me as I am. I will blame no one for it. Blame is a word no longer in my vocabulary.

9. I will be honest with me about me. That is the way I will come to know me, hence to accept me. If I can be honest with me about myself, I will find that I can be honest about me with others.

10. I will talk about myself and my acceptance of myself with another person whenever I need to.

11. I will accept others for whom they are, not for whom I want them to be. This will teach me to accept myself.

12. I will remember that self acceptance can not be gained if I drink or escape with pills. Either is, by definition, non-acceptance of self.
